Prilosec is used for healing of various acid related stomach and esophagus problems (for example, GERD, ulcers, erosive esophagitis, or Zollinger Ellison Syndrome). If you suffer from heartburn (and have tried to treating it and changed your diet) Prilosec can be suitable for you. Certain antibiotics (such as amoxicillin, clarithromycin) can be determined together with Prevacid when curing certain ulcers.
Prilosec comes as a capsule or tablet. The general dose is 20mg tablet or capsule, taken once a day (every 24 hours) during 14 days before a meal. Do not take Prilosec for more than 14 days or repeat a 14 day course more often than every 4 months. For best effect swallow the capsule or tablet, do not crush, break, or chew it.
Prilosec is not suitable for you if you have only occasional heartburn, have one episode of heartburn a week or less, want immediate relief of heartburn. Before taking Prilosec contact your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drug you are taking. Don't start or stop any medicine without your doctor`s or pharmacist`s approval.
